How to Request a Fastener Quote: What to Include for Fast, Accurate Pricing
When you need custom fasteners, the quality of your quote depends on the details you share up front. A complete request means fewer back-and-forth emails, more accurate pricing, and parts that fit the first time. Here's what we look for when a quote request comes in.
Fastener type and head style
Start with the basics: is it a bolt, screw, or washer, and what style? A hex head bolt, carriage bolt, and shoulder bolt serve very different purposes, and the same goes for flat, pan, and round heads on screws. If a specific drive type matters, such as Phillips, slotted, square, or Torx, include that too.
Diameter, thread, and length
These three measurements define whether a fastener will fit. Let us know the diameter and thread pitch, and whether you're working in inch (coarse or fine thread) or metric sizing. For length, most fasteners are measured from under the head to the tip, while flat head screws are measured overall. If you're unsure, a quick note on how you measured helps us confirm.
Material and grade
The right material depends on strength needs and the environment. Carbon steel comes in different grades for different load requirements, while stainless steel is the go-to for moisture, outdoor, and marine settings. If you're matching an existing part or following a project specification, tell us the grade or standard it calls for.
Finish or coating
Finishes protect against corrosion and affect appearance. Common options include zinc plating, hot-dip galvanizing, and black oxide, and stainless typically needs no coating at all. If the parts will be outdoors, near salt air, or in contact with treated lumber, mention it so we can recommend a suitable finish.
Quantity and timing
Quantity has a big effect on pricing, so share how many pieces you need and whether this is a one-time order or something you'll reorder. If you have a deadline, include it so we can give you an honest lead time from the start.
Drawings and samples
A drawing or spec sheet removes guesswork, especially for non-standard parts. Email any drawings to info@sunbatchsupply.com with your company name so we can match them to your request.
